Aveda, which has always opposed animal testing, received Cruelty Free International certification

All Aveda cosmetics and personal care products now have the globally recognized gold standard for cruelty-free product approval

In order to gain Leaping Bunny's approval, Cruelty Free International has confirmed that Aveda does not conduct or commission animal testing of its products, raw materials and ingredients. The brand went through a rigorous multi-year review process with Cruelty Free International to verify that its suppliers and manufacturers adhere to all Leaping Bunny standards for their products and ingredients. To maintain approval of the Leaping Bunny program, Aveda will be audited by Cruelty Free International every 12 months to ensure continued compliance.

"Aveda was founded on the principles of caring for the world we live in, which includes always opposing animal testing," said Barbara De Laere, Aveda Global Brand President. "We have been a leader in sustainability for more than 40 years and we are proud to support Cruelty Underscoring our commitment to the planet, Free International Leaping Bunny certification is internationally recognized as the gold standard for cruelty-free cosmetics."

Gaining approval for Cruelty Free International's Leaping Bunny program is a key component of Aveda's goal to provide greater transparency to Aveda guests through a trusted external organization. Leaping Bunny status applies to Aveda's full line of premium hair, skin and body care products, which are sold in thousands of salons and stores around the world. These include Aveda's hair color products, which are sold exclusively at Aveda partner salons.

Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty Free International, said: "Aveda has a strong reputation for its decades-long commitment to ethical business and sustainability. I am delighted that approval of Aveda products now includes Leaping Bunny."

Create a more responsible future

True to Aveda's founding mission to care for the world we live in, the brand has set new benchmarks in environmental responsibility in beauty for decades, focusing on six areas: safe beauty, responsible sourcing, responsible packaging, cruelty-free and vegan formulas, Earth-conscious manufacturing, helping protect and provide clean water to Aveda sourcing communities and people in need around the world.

Aveda lives out its mission at its corporate headquarters, a 58-acre National Wildlife Federation-certified campus in Minnesota that features bee colonies, employee-managed gardens, electric vehicle charging stations and miles of running tracks. The main office building emphasizes sustainability: powered by solar and wind energy, there are recycled fiber carpets, compost and recycling bins throughout the building, and an organic café.
