French brand L'Occitane has teamed up with Albéa Tubes to redesign the packaging of its iconic 30ml hand cream range, with a shea butter version set to launch in January 2024.

CompletePlastic Laminates and APR Certified Greenleaf SolutionsHDPE multi-layer casing is used to replace the previous aluminum barrier laminated pipe. The new solution reduces the number of materials from 5 to 2 and the number of components from 3 to 2.

The transition from laminated (ABL) pipe to Greenleaf pipe with integrated OctoTop opening system now enables recyclability while reducing the total weight of the pipe by 23% compared to current pipes.
For the lid,L'Occitanerely onAlbeaEcoTop Technologyand OctoTop, a 2-in-1 flip-top closure system that features L’Occitane’s signature famous octagonal shape and eliminates the peel-off seal. The closed system is made of HDPE, making the entire pipe recyclable in existing PE recycling streams in France, Europe and the United States.
according toAlbeaThe customized project required two years of joint development and was based on a certified life cycle analysis (LCA) that assessed the new pipe solution’s reduced environmental impact in multiple categories compared to current solutions.
